Someone
(later identified as Isaac Sullivan) walks up and hits on a man
sitting in a chair (later identified as Robert Foster) at Badlands,
a gay bar/club. Isaac goes to Robert's apartment to paint a canvas
of him. Jamie Pollack, Robert's lover, walks in and see Isaac's
electric saw. Isaac knocks Jamie out and kills Robert with the saw.
Sara
and Jake are at the crime scene. Jamie describes Isaac as "stunning,
but in a frightening way." Isaac has mismatched eyes, one is
dark brown and the other is ice blue. Gabriel Bowman walks in with
a shrunken head that the now deceased Robert Foster had ordered.
Jamie
identifies Isaac Sullivan in a police lineup, but Isaac is released
when he directs Sara to the newspaper The Voice, which has a picture
of him and the president at the time of the murder. Sara tells Jake
to arrest Jamie.
Sara
searches for information about the Witchblade over the Internet
and finds a website called Talismaniac.com. She goes to Talismaniac
and sees a dimly lit room with idols, icons and talismans on display.
She's looking at an old drum set when Gabriel Bowman, the owner,
walks in.
Gabriel
tells her that the drums were the last set played by Keith Moon
before he died and were bought by John Bono before he died. Sara
replies that they must be cursed. Gabriel says that she can have
the fifty thousand dollar drums on layaway with her bracelet as
a deposit. Sara (trying to gauge Gabriel's knowledge of the blade)
offers a straight up swap, and Gabriel agrees with no hesitation.
Sara tells Gabriel that he can have the blade for ten thousand dollars
if she ever decides to really sell it if he tells her everything
he knows and everything he can find out about the Witchblade.
Sara
goes to Isaac Sullivan's place. Isaac Sullivan, an artist, explains
to Sara about the work displayed in the room. The work is entitled
The Huntsmen of Anya, a folk tale about a band of nine Welsh brothers
who rode the woods and slaughtered everything in their path. If
one brother is killed the other eight absorbs his power. The Isaac
at Badlands calls and asks the Isaac with Sara to come out and join
him. The Isaac with Sara declines. Then the Isaac at Badlands hits
on a girl (his next victim).
Sara
and Jake are on the rooftop of a building investigating the murder
. Sara sees Danny standing on the rooftop some distance away and
then disappears. She walks over to where he was standing and finds
a Badlands matchbox and evidence that the killer took pictures.
Their main suspect, Jamie Pollack, was in lockup and Sara was with
Isaac when the murder occurred. With two murders connected to Badlands,
Sara tells Jake that they're going to the gay club. They get into
an argument when Jake doesn't want to go, so Sara says she'd go
on her own.
Ian
goes to Talismaniac and offers to pay thirty thousand Swiss Francs,
which is more than the asking price, for the shrunken head that
Robert Foster had ordered. The only catch is to stop talking to
Sara about the Witchblade. Gabriel wants to decline the offer, but
Ian threatens him and so he reluctantly agrees.
Sara
is undercover as a guy at Badlands. Sara is surprised to see that
Jake has decided to come. She sees Isaac walking toward them and
tells Jake to kiss her. Sara is able to hide her face from Isaac
and then sneak off.
Jamie
Pollack is packing his belongings in his apartment. Isaac is hiding
in the apartment and makes a disturbing phone call to Jamie. Isaac
then kills him with a blow torch.
Sara
is walking around the club and sees one of Isaac's paintings hanging
on the wall. The Witchblade glows and the figure (a spooky head
growing out of another) is moving in the painting. She receives
a call that Jamie is dead. She notifies Jake, and they go back to
the apartment to investigate. Sara can hear voices from the murders
that occurred in the apartment.
Gabriel
goes to Sara about the death threat he got, and Sara immediately
knows it's Ian. Gabriel, defying Ian, tells Sara everything he's
found out about the Witchblade. The Latin name for the Witchblade
is Digitabulum Magae. The blade pops up in different cultures, and
only women can wear it. The blade gives certain powers to the wielders
including, strength, agility and clairvoyance. It also punishes
pretenders.
Sara
visits Dominique in her jail cell. Sara warns Dominique that if
she can't learn about the blade from her, then she might have to
go to Kenneth Irons. Sara convinces Dominique to tell her about
the blade. Dominique tells her that the answer is right in front
of her and that everything is connected and nothing happens by chance.
Her case is connected to Irons. Dominique mentions the words "brood
mare." Irons is involved in genetic research and is interested
in evolution and reproduction.
Sara
wakes up from a dream with images of people connected to her. She
cracks an egg into a frying pan and sees two yolks. After doing
that a second time, she realizes that the answer is right
in front of her.
Sara
finds out that Dr. Peter D'Angelo, a fertility expert and attending
physician during Isaac's birth, is the "Angel of Birth."
D'Angelo impregnated women with his own sperm when the women wanted
their husbands'.
Sara
goes to Rahway State Prison where D'Angelo is serving a twenty year
sentence. The research was funded by Vorschlag Industries. D'Angelo
harvested a single egg and split it. The result was offspring that
were identical to each other. D'Angelo takes his sunglasses off
to reveal his mismatched eyes (one dark brown; the other ice blue).
Sara
goes to arrest Isaac. She points her gun at him. A twin Isaac shows
and points his gun at her. Jake shows and points his gun at the
second Isaac. The second Isaac puts his gun down. The third Isaac
shows up and points his gun at Jake. The third Isaac takes Jake's
gun and orders Sara to drop hers. He shoves Jake over to Sara and
ties them up.
While
the Isaacs are taunting and pushing Jake around in his chair, Sara
uses the Witchblade to break out of her bindings. She pushes Jake
to the side with his back to the room and battles the Isaacs. The
Isaacs attack her with power tools and guns, but they were no match
for the Witchblade. Sara kills the three Isaacs and unties Jake.
Sara
goes to Dominique to thank her, but finds her dead. Her aging has
reversed itself.
Sara
goes home to her apartment and notices that the door is open. She
finds Gabriel setting up the set of drums she saw at Talismaniac.
Gabriel tells her that he's securing his investment.
Someone
in a hooded jacket is spray painting Sara with the Witchblade on
a fence. The person turns around. It's another Isaac Sullivan.
