The CONvergence (photos)

The CONvergence was a combined con for
both Farscape and Witchblade fans held July 26-28. A total of 220
people registered for the convention, with about 30-40 of those
being Witchblade fans. The CON was a fun filled weekend packed with
many creative Witchblade activities. We had obstacles to overcome
being off location. The cast and crew could not come and of course
we could not go on tours of the set, but the CONvergence chairmen
(including IANticipate & Taka) worked hard to make ours a weekend
to remember. A lot of time and energy went into the planning of
our Witchblade activities including contests, workshops, and panels.
We had many different contests. One of which was a Conundrum puzzle.
Wormie painstakingly took images from the different episodes &
manipulated them into puzzles. The participants tried to guess the
character and episode the image came from. This contest ended in
a three-way tie for first. These girls know their Witchblade! Wormie
will have this game posted on her website along with other games
at http://www.wormieness.com/wbose/OSE_home.htm.
Other contests included Name that Tune, Witchblade Trivia (Jeopardy
style), *Fan Fiction, and a costume contest. There
were four entries in the costume contest: Sara Pezzini, Periculum
Sara, Vicky Po, and the Delivery Guy. The Delivery Guy won the
Witchblade contest for best costume and also the overall best costume
at the CONvergence.
Workshops available to the Bladewielders included music videos
by DEHpenguin and Fan Fiction by Jessica. DEHpenguin had many videos
to watch that were breathtaking and inspiring. One of her videos
débuted at the CONvergence was “How you Remind Me” and included
footage of the comics and previous work by the same actors. Clips
were included of Yancy Butler from “Drop Zone”, Anthony Cistaro
in “The Nanny”, and Eric Etebari in “Silk Stalkings”. This video
and others she has worked on can be viewed at her sight http://www.angelfire.com/tv2/witchblade/index.html.
Jessica provided a Fan Fiction workshop where she supplied the beginning
and ending sentences and the group had 1-½ hours to create a story.
The completed work can be read at her site http://www.kusine.com/Witchblade/convergence.htm.
Panels were also available on Kenneth Irons and Ian with a question
and answer format. Bladewielders had the opportunity to sign Yearbooks
for all the cast and crew with our pictures inserted with our comments.
Comfy Confessionals were videotaped clips of Bladewielders to be
sent to cast and crew. Raffle drawings and a very creative Witchblade
based pool tournament game, compliments of Photog, helped raise
$1,214.14 for David Chokachi’s charity.
Overall, we were a little disappointed without the cast and crew
at the CONvergence and because of that a lower turnout by the fans.
However, because of our circumstances, we had much more time for
fellowship and fireside chats. All the time and energy put into
the activities available to the Bladewielders made the CONvergence
fun for all. We arrived at the CON, drawn by a common love for the
show, but left with a greater love and respect for our fellow Bladwielders.
