This Tuesday's episode of TNT's Witchblade, "Thanatopsis," will feature a fight between Jake McCartey and Ian Nottingham.

David Chokachi, who plays Jake, and Eric Etebari, who plays Nottingham, were very involved in the scene - so involved that it left Chokachi's right arm all bruised.

"It was a pretty long deal," Chokachi told The Continuum. "This feud between Nottingham and myself kind of came to a culmination in this episode, so they wanted it to look really good. So we rehearsed and I did a bunch of rehearsing the day before, like five hours.

"It's in this soccer stadium. I started by exercising by myself in the center of the field and then running up the stars. So we wind up starting the fight at the top of the stadium and it winds up in the center of the field.

"I'm throwing a punch at his head and he keeps blocking it. Between rehearsals and the actual shooting, we did it probably 40 or 50 times. Towards the end of it I was like, 'Damn that's sore.' The stunt coordinator told me to put on a pad and I heard him but I didn't hear him, and by the time I put the pad on the damage was done. But the fight looks good."

Chokachi said it's always interesting working with Eric Etebari, who plays Nottingham.

"He gets into this. Nottingham is a freak in the comic. He's a really cryptic guy," Chokachi said. "Eric's a great man, he has the best heart. But he's in his own little world and it fits his character perfectly."

Chokachi said that Witchblade, starring Yancy Butler as the Top Cow hero, is a physical show.

"Yancy and Eric's character, Nottingham, have the most action," he said. "I requested as much action as I can get. I love that stuff and usually, I have one thing per episode."

Chokachi's parents came up to Toronto to see the filming of the "Thanatopsis" episode.

"And I'm just getting beaten in this fight. I had blood all over me, and cuts on my head and my arm's all swollen," he said, laughing, "But I get him back. I get him back in spades."
