As the
first season of TNT's Witchblade ends on Tuesday night, Top
Cow's Marc Silvestri told The Continuum he is optimistic that
the show will return for a second season.
"We're
waiting for the word," Silvestri, who is an executive
producer for the show, told The Continuum.
Neither
TNT nor Top Cow has announced a second season. On Tuesday,
TNT released an e-mail address, witchblade@turner.com, where
viewers can voice their opinions about the show.
"Your
support has been amazing," Silvestri told fans at Top
Cow's panel at Wizard World on Sunday. "I love going
on the chat boards and seeing all the response. The ratings
not only held, they actually increased through the season,
which is an amazing, for not only this type of material, but
for a cable network like TNT.
"It
looks strong. Keep your fingers crossed."
In other
Witchblade news:
* Top
Cow's Matt Hawkins announced there will be a Witchblade DVD
that will feature the two-hour movie and bonus material.
"They're
trying to make it for Christmas, but I don't think they're
going to make it," Hawkins said. "It will probably
be out the first quarter of 2002."
* When
the Witchblade marathon - the two-hour movie and the 11 one-hour
episodes airs this Saturday on TNT - it will include a promotional
spot for Top Cow.
* Here's
how TNT describes "Transcendence," the season finale:
"Jake
plays his trump card, but ends up revealing a greater web
of conspiracy and puts Sara and her friends in the lethal
hands of Kenneth Irons. Now Sara must call upon the untapped
powers of the Witchblade to save them all from Irons' evil
scheme."
