[Anthony Cistaro
is Kenneth Irons]
An eccentric billionaire entrepreneur rumored to have made
his fortune through illegal arms dealings, Irons' connection
to the Witchblade runs deep. A collector of art and ancient
weapons, the Witchblade was in his collection -- on loan to
a Midtown museum -- when it was first "found" by Sara. He
still bears the scars from his failed attempt to wield the
weapon and is in many ways still possessed by its power. Irons
continues to monitor Sara's use of the Witchblade as he runs
his diverse corporate empire, Vorschlag Industries, which
includes media holdin
gs, real estate and biotech development.*
1.11 Transcendence:
Ian asks Irons to take his life instead of choosing between
him and Sara. Irons tells him that he's not a merciful man
and tells Ian to leave. Irons knows Ian died before Dante
even tells him. Irons tells Dante to bring Ian's body back
to him with his head kept chilled. The effects are wearing
off, and Irons needs another infusion. They've run out of
Sara's blood. He replaces Ian with Ian2, a more aggressive
and lethal Ian, and orders him to bring Sara to him. Dante
brings Ian's body back. Irons is sitting on a couch looking
at some of Ian's belongings, including a torn picture of him
and Ian. Maybe he's not as merciless as he thinks. Although
he denies having Sara's father, lover and partner killed,
he likely did. Irons seems to be affected by the death of
Gabriel. After Ian2 snaps Gabriel's neck, Irons grabs his
chest in pain. After Sara defeats Ian2, Irons asks for Sara's
help and offers to help her. When Sara turns around, Irons
stabs her in the back with a dagger. He tries to grab the
bloody dagger from Sara's back, but Sara gets to it first.
Sara refuses to help him and reverses time.
1.10 Convergence:
Irons has aged even more and is confined to a wheel chair.
His birth certificate says he's 96 years old (born 1905?).
Irons uses the preserved remains of Elizabeth Bronte to prolong
his life, but may be developing a tolerance or immunity to
it. Ian cuts Sara's palm and brings back the blood soaked
handkerchief to Irons. Sara's blood works. Irons age reverses.
Irons tells Ian that he knows what he tried to do. If the
experiment failed, they could have saved Sara, but since it
succeeded, Ian knows what he needs to to.
1.09 Apprehension:
Irons knows that Sara can't be controlled. She can only be
contained. Irons had envisioned a scenario in which Sara would
become a member of their family and Ian would serve them both,
but appears to have given up on it. Irons is aware of Ian's
infatuation with Sara. Irons knows Sara's blood is invaluable
and wants it. Irons and Ian go to the precinct, where an aged
Irons apologizes to Sara for rejecting her when she went to
him for help and asks for her forgiveness. Ian knows Irons'
apology is hollow and shakes his head to let Sara know. Irons
and Sara are linked. He knew Sara was going to his office
and already had his car warmed and waiting downstairs. He
takes Sara to the VCN newsroom so she can tell her White Bulls
story. Irons claims that the VCN newsroom is completely autonomous,
but he probably controls it. The news reporter refuses to
air Sara's story. Irons and Dante had a deal. Irons wants
Sara alive. Dante wants her killed. Irons warns Dante that
Dante will die.
1.08 Thanatopsis:
Sara finds a CD containing a profile of Irons:
Subject's residence: occupies 12-bedroom mansion. He never
sleeps in the same room two consecutive nights.
Subject's relations: Kenneth Irons has no confirmed family
or progeny
Owns 11 personal vehicles. Switches everyday.
Subject's interpersonal activity: subject highly active sexually.
Known partners include: (pictures of men and women, including
Sara)
Irons knows Sylvester Marcus, who attended design school
on an annual scholarship he awards annually. Irons felt that
Sly's art was imitating life a bit too closely (Sly's latest
comic involves two men who look like Ian and Irons). Irons
probably ordered Ian to kill Sly.
1.07 Periculum:
Irons experiences the same motions and feelings as Sara during
the Periculum. Irons killed Elizabeth Bronte. Irons made Ian
and gave him the capacity to evolve. After Sara passes the
Periculum, Irons looks at screensavers of a DNA strand and
tells Ian that Ian will be the first to know whether it's
possible to take (kill?, control?) Sara.
1.06 Maelstrom:
Irons is aware of Sara's involvements with Conchobar. He rejects
Sara when she goes to him for two million dollars to save
Conchobar, telling her that he wants to reject her as she
once did him. After Sara leaves, he orders Ian to go and bring
the Witchblade back to him. When Ian comes back without the
Witchblade, he hits him in the head.
1.05 Legion:
Irons has Father Bellamy's missing journals dated during WWII
1.04 Sacrifice:
Irons owns an old book written in a language dead a thousand
years about the legend of Cathain. Sara accuses him of tearing
out the last page of the chapter that could've helped her
solve her case. He also mentions that the next chapter pertains
to the death of Conchobar.
1.03 Diplopia:
Irons is involved in genetic research and funded Dr. Peter
D'Angelo's research that created the Isaac Sullivans. Dominique
tells Sara that Irons "always had an eye for a fine brood
mare." Given Irons' interest in genetic research, evolution
and reproduction, he may want to use or extract genetic material
from Sara for cloning and reproductive purposes.
Irons doesn't want Sara to learn more about the blade from
other sources. Ian threatens Gabriel and tells him to refrain
from talking to Sara about the blade. The order likely came
from Irons. Gabriel talks to Sara anyway.
1.02 Conundrum:
Irons was involved with Dominique Boucher when he first acquired
the blade, but dumped her when he found out that she was a
pretender. He put the blade on in one instance only ("At
the dark of the first new moon of the second half of the last
century"). He seems to have stopped aging. He looks the
same as he did in a photograph dated in '59.
1.01 Parallax:
Irons tries to court Sara to get to the Witchblade.
He is very knowledgeable about the blade, but doesn't give
straight answers to Sara. He tries to give Sara clues that
will lead her to conclusion that he wants her to end up with.
He backed the Black Dragons experiment. When it went awry,
he ordered Ian to eliminate the rest of unit.
Season 1: Kenneth Irons is obsessed with the Witchblade.
He owns the world, but not the blade. Since he can't own the
blade, he tries to control the Witchblade through the woman
chosen to wield it. His birth certificate says he's ninety-six
years old (in 2001). Irons is also involved in projects that
involve DNA and reproduction and has a deal with Dante and
the Bulls, a corrupt police organization. His brief attempt
to wear the blade has prolonged his life. When the effects
begin to wear off, he uses Elizabeth Bronte's remains to extend
his life. His contact with the Witchblade has also bonded
him forever to the blade and connects him to Sara. Irons tries
to hide certain facts about the blade from Sara. He killed
Elizabeth Bronte (a former bladewielder) and preserved her
body and poses her on a couch with mist rising from the ground.
He develops an immunity to Elizabeth Bronte's cells. Sara's
blood is the only source that can prevent him from rapidly
aging and dying. With Sara turning back time in the season
finale, how much he will remember is unknown at this time.
